OCA President Crowns Qatar Shooting Team with Men's Skeet Gold

HE President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani presented Qatar's national shooting team with the gold medal in the Men's Skeet team event at the 20th Asian Games (Aichi-Nagoya 2026) in Japan, which runs through October 4.

The Qatari trio of Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah, Rashid Saleh Al Athba, and Ali Ahmed Al Ishaq secured Team Qatar's first gold medal of the Games, topping the standings with a score of 353 points. Kuwait claimed the silver medal with 348 points, while India took bronze with 346 points.

In the individual competition, Qatari shooter Rashid Saleh Al Athba added a second gold to the tally, winning the Men's Skeet individual event with a new Asian record score of 34 points. China's Lyu Jianlin took silver with 33 points, while Chinese Taipei's Lee Meng-yuan claimed bronze with 29 points.

The dual gold-medal performance marks a significant milestone for Qatari shooting, strengthening the delegation's standing and underscoring Qatar's growing presence in the sport across the continent.

With these results, Qatar's total medal tally at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games has climbed to four medals: two gold, one silver, and one bronze.
